A Perfect Teacher

If you seek a perfect teacher, you will find one that suits you for that moment. And whether or not you spend ten years of your time, a lifetime of worship, or in an instant realize the teacher has a flaw, you will cling to that teacher and believe the stories that are told. You will perform all the rituals that come with teaching as a faithful follower. That is the agreement between the teacher and student. At a certain point you wake up knowing that the teacher has nothing more to teach you, so you leave in search of another who will take you further. Sometimes you surrender totally.

An odd thing happens when you do surrender. You accept without conditions the truth of your profound love and its tearing away of your own identity, that ego that always holds back a piece of the world for itself……. as separate. Ironically, when surrender takes place the prisoner actually gets freedom. The ego is dissolved and no longer a hinderance to receiving the full blessing of the teaching. This is a rebirth.

Can you look at your teacher as brilliant and still human? Can you accept that all perfect genius has a human component and therefore is flawed in some corner, some Achilles heel ?

That does not diminish the value of everything the teacher has given or has taught you. All teachings that change your mind and bring great movement forward towards the heart of wisdom within you was already present when you met your teacher. All the teacher does or ever hopes to do to, is to awaken your inner guru.

Once you do awaken, then the real search for the perfect teacher will stop because you become your own perfect teacher …… Self reflection walks you through the garden of self realization and there you meet your true self, the perfect teacher. So do you suppose you will see yourself as perfect when you gaze in the mirror ? It appears that what you will see when you look carefully is that you too, have a flaw. Maybe it is the nose, or the skin, or yes, the hair. Maybe its something so much deeper like a dark circle under your eye, or a deep wrinkle from the kidneys. Maybe you spot the hidden message that is coming through to you.

Whatever you see, the deepest level will be inside you, as the thoughts and feelings you transfer in the mirror of what is all around you. The mirror, which is everything and everyone around you, is the perfect teacher. Does the mirror pull towards life or death, joy or suffering, wisdom or ignorance? Do you go towards fight or flight, denial or towards acceptance ? Do you bow your head towards love and surrender of the truth you find ?

The moral of the story is: Everything is your perfect teacher. You are the one you have been seeking.
